Vacay Glow: The Ultimate Guide to Spray Tanning Before Your Trip 🌴

Grand Rapids, we know you’re craving a little vitamin sea and no one wants to show up to vacay feeling pasty. No need to spend days roasting in the sun (or worse—ending up a lobster). The secret? A custom spray tan that has you looking effortlessly sun-kissed from the moment you arrive! ✨

If you’re thinking about getting a spray tan before your trip, here’s how to do it right so you can glow all vacay long.

1. Book Your Spray Tan at the Right Time

Timing is everything when it comes to spray tanning before a vacation. The goal is to book your appointment as close to your departure date as possible—but not too close. Aim for one to two days before you leave so your tan has time to develop and settle while avoiding any last-minute stress. We don’t recommend getting your tan the same day as you travel.

💡 Pro tip: If you’re leaving on a Friday, book your spray tan on Wednesday or Thursday for peak glow!

2. Prep Like a Pro

A little prep work makes all the difference in how long your tan lasts. Follow these steps to achive the perfect canvas for your tan:

✔ Exfoliate your entire body a few days leading up to your appointment. Use a gentle scrub or exfoliating mitt, ensuring you hit your elbows, knees, and ankles.

✔ Shave or wax at least 24 hours before your appointment.

✔ Skip lotions, perfumes, and oils the day of your spray.

✔ Do all your other vacay prep BEFORE your tan (i.e. nails, facials, etc.)

3. Pack a Spray Tan-Safe Sunscreen

Just because you look bronzed doesn’t mean you’re protected from the sun! Your spray tan does not provides sun protection. Some sunscreens can actually strip your tan, causing uneven fading.

4. Hydrate, Hydrate, Hydrate!

A well-hydrated tan = a long-lasting tan! Keep your skin moisturized with an oil-free lotion and drink plenty of water throughout your trip.

5. Limit the Hot Tubs & Super Salty Water

Nothing fades a spray tan faster than chlorine and salty ocean water. If you’re taking a dip, rinse off with fresh water afterward and pat (don’t rub!) your skin dry. Don’t forget to apply lotion!

6. Extend Your Glow

Want to keep your tan looking fresh all trip long? Pack a tan extender to touch up any areas that fade faster, think of it as “glow insurance" 😉
